young, dark & anxious (YDA)

YDA is a basketball-based program that blends physical wellbeing with mental wellbeing,  getting bodies moving, adrenaline pumping and endorphins flowing while learning the fundamentals of sports psychology. These mental preparedness techniques are valuable tools to help Black teen girls deal with the many stresses in today's world. We open up important conversations on topics such as healthy relationships, gender-based violence (GBV), racism and body positivity in a safe and welcoming space. Our in-house nurse, Tic-tac, along with professionally-trained counsellors, provide one-on-one counselling on a needs-based approach, including referrals to other supports in the community.
